In 2017 we are celebrating the centenary of Auguste Rodin’s (1840-1917) death with a program of various educational activities unified under #Rodin100 and joining a worldwide series of major Rodin projects this public lecture is bringing together storytelling about the French sculptor and a collaborative art workshop “Je sense, done je suis!”

Dieter Schafer lived in France for six years and visits Paris and French wine regions annually. He is a certified educator and sommelier and principal of Hospitality & Wine Education ( with 40+ years of restaurant industry and teaching experience acquired in 12 countries in Europe, Africa, Middle East, and North America. Dieter will guide you through the major wine regions of France and introduce you
to the wines produced


Francophone Cinema in Seattle – 1:30PM

Justine Barda is a senior programmer with SIFF where her areas of specialization are France, the Middle East, and North Africa. She has also consulted to Sundance, the Dubai International Film Festival, and the Toronto International Film Festival. She teaches in the Film Studies Program at Seattle University. Justine will be giving an overview of SIFF’s programs of French and Francophone Cinema with a focus on some of the most exciting directors working today, standout programming fom the past year, and fantastic films coming soon to a theater near you.
